September 1, 2020 Launch
The Northwest Territories and Nunavut Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists (NAPEG) is pleased to announce their agreement with Notarius to offer the CertifiO digital signature solution for use by NAPEG registrants. Thanks to this partnership with Notarius, NAPEG practitioners will now be able to use a digital signature that validates their identify in order to securely sign their documents.
As of September 1, 2020, every engineer and geoscientist licensed in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut will have the option to digitally sign and seal their documents with the NAPEG Digital signature, allowing them to create electronic originals.
NAPEG is committed to protecting the public interest and maintaining the highest standards of professional practice. The use of digital signatures is not mandatory, but it is another option that is available to Professional Engineers and Professional Geoscientists and Permit Holders to help ensure the integrity of their documents.
Claude Charpentier, President and CEO of Notarius, said, “We are thrilled to welcome NAPEG among the professional associations that already trust our digital signature.”
NAPEG President Justin Hazenberg, P.Eng., stated, “This is the next logical step. Originally the ink stamp and handwritten signature was the document verification. Members then started using digital recreations of their stamp on documents, with original signed copies kept on file. Now members can provide verified and secured digital documents. Contractors, clients, and members of the public can be assured that these documents are the unaltered originals sealed by a licensed professional current with the association. This is good news for both members and for the protection of the public.”
