Violence against women and girls remains a worldwide phenomenon. To commemorate the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women, the Status of Women Council will be hosting a December 6th vigil. The special event will pay tribute to the 14 women that lost their lives during the Montreal massacre 29 years ago. The vigil will also be an opportunity to acknowledge the countless women and girls that are victims of gender-based violence. Description The Northern Centre for Sustainability (NCFS) will be built in downtown Yellowknife, and will act as a living lab and innovation hub. The building will demonstrate cutting-edge building technologies, and be the first Living Building in Canada’s North. The NCFS will be carbon-negative and energy, water, waste, and people-positive. It will be a hub in which knowledge will move between isolated northern indigenous communities, Ecology North, the Yellowknives Dene First Nation, and participating universities.
