March is National Engineering and Geoscience Month!

Join NAPEG as we celebrate the contributions of engineers and geoscientists in the North and across Canada. This year, Engineering and Geoscience Month is of particular significance in the Northwest Territories with the new Practice of Engineering, Geoscience, and Applied Science Technology Act (PEGASTA), which came into effect on March 1, 2025. Throughout the month, we’ll be spotlighting NAPEG members making an impact, sharing key updates on PEGASTA in collaboration with the Government of Northwest Territories, and hosting exciting events that engage the next generation in a career in engineering and geoscience.

Bridge Building Competition – March 1, 2025 

NAPEG’s annual Bridge Building Competition returns! Students from across the Northwest Territories and Nunavut and Nunavut will test their bridges for strength and design in this fun, hands-on event led by the NAPEGG Education Foundation.

Kids Coding Event – April 5 

Introduce your kids to the world of coding! Led by the NAPEGG Education Foundation, this hands-on event is open to children who are eager to learn.

Join Engineers Canada for a virtual event marking the 100th anniversary of the Iron Ring and the unveiling of the modernized Calling of an Engineer ceremony. This 90-minute event will feature a panel of engineers discussing the history, significance, and future of this cherished tradition.

PEGASTA: Evolving Today, Shaping Tomorrow 

On March 1, 2025, the anticipated Practice of Engineering, Geoscience, and Applied Science Technology Act (PEGASTA) officially came into effect, modernizing the regulatory landscape for engineers and geoscientists in the Northwest Territories. These updates bring:

Modernized Governance – Enhancing transparency and accountability in professional regulation.
Mandatory Professional Development – Ensuring engineers and geoscientists remain at the forefront of industry standards.
Expanded Licensing – Improving workforce mobility for professionals to work in the NWT; and much more.
