Call for Participants – Sustainable Engineering Practice Research

As part of a project investigating sustainable engineering practices and mindsets, researchers at the University of Prince Edward Island would like to interview professional engineers regarding their perceptions and professional activities with respect to sustainability. The goal of this research is twofold. First, to inform public policy and engineering practice regarding current practices in sustainability. Second, to develop new methods and processes for supporting sustainable engineering practices via an interdisciplinary approach. Participation is not limited to engineers whose practice relates directly to sustainability, all professional engineers are welcome. Engineers Canada and Engineers of Tomorrow are looking for engineers to volunteer for the Future City Experience. New this year, the Future City Experience is an abbreviated version of the Future City Competition that challenges students in grades 6, 7, and 8 to use the engineering design process to research, design, and build a model of city 100 years into the future. Students this year are being asked to design a lunar city and provide examples of how the city uses two Moon resources to keep its residents safe and healthy. The PIEVC Protocol Course will be offered online from January 20, 2021 to February 17, 2021.The Protocol is a practical tool and process that systematically assesses the risks of extreme weather and future climate on public infrastructure.
