There are two permanent, full-time positions available that can be based in any Ministry of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship office. Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to two days at home per week, subject to an approved Telework Agreement.

Licensed Land and Resource Specialist
$75,454.69 – $96,020.36 annually. Depending on location, a bi-weekly isolation allowance may apply.

The Ministry of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship is accountable for integrated land and natural resource management, including objective setting for land and marine environments, effectively managing cumulative effects, and advancing reconciliation with Indigenous peoples, environmental sustainability and economic resiliency.

The Licensed Land and Resource Specialist understands land use realities in British Columbia, works collaboratively with Indigenous partners, can systems think, manages projects and is forward-looking to recognize and capitalize on opportunities.

Qualifications for this role include:

  • Registered, or immediately eligible for registration, as a fully licensed professional with the British Columbia professional association as required by the specialty area (i.e., Forest Professionals BC, BC Institute of Agrologists, Engineers and Geoscientists BC).
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a natural resource management-related field (e.g., Environmental Studies/Science, Geography, Natural Resource Management, Forestry, etc.; or, Political Science, Economics, History, Sociology and Planning as they relate to natural resource management) and 3 years of related work experience in a natural resource discipline, or an equivalent combination of education/training, plus 5 or more years’ experience working in a natural resource discipline.
  • Experience managing multiple projects or leading a component (e.g., sub-project) of a major project or initiative.
  • Training in project management or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Experience working on complex natural resource management, planning and/or policy initiatives.
  • Experience working collaboratively with Indigenous groups or governments to advance multi-faceted initiatives.
  • Experience in managing project teams.
  • Experience managing relationships with senior level stakeholders.
  • Experience with and knowledge of conflict and dispute resolution principles and practices.
